Distance Learning Course Description

COURSE NAME: The Bible as Literature

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Hadley / Luzerne

INSTRUCTOR: Janice Waterhouse

FULL YEAR

COURSE PREREQUISITES: none -

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: Knowledge of and exposure to the Bible is essential for every college
bound student. Allusions to Biblical characters, events, and themes can be found throughout much of the
literature required for higher level high school as well as college level courses.

The linguistic structures and forms, from the poetry of the Psalms to the rhetoric of Romans, allow for a
wonderful depth and breadth of language study.

This course will delve into both the stories and structures of a beautifully written, profoundly influential, and
ultimately readable text - the Bible.
