Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: United States History Through Movies and Music

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Scotia-Glenville

INSTRUCTOR:

HALF YEAR

MAXIMUM TOTAL CLASS ENROLLMENT - ALL SITES: no more than 12 students at the receive site if one site receives class; no more than 6 students at each receive site if two sites receive class.

COURSE PREREQUISITES:


BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: The focus of this course will be to examine and discuss feature
movies and popular music through the eyes of the historian. Students will read and discuss movie and song
reviews by prominent historians, view movies, and listen to songs to determine their accuracy and historical
significance.

The course will contain significant historical research and discussion, writing of reviews and plot summaries,
and the opportunity to showcase the audio-visual and musical talents of the students and their instructor.
Eleven unit assignments and a midterm and final exam/project will be required.
