Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: French I

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Schalmont

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: This course is designed for students beginning French at the high
school level. It develops the basic skills of listening, speaking reading and writing through a systematic study
of vocabulary and grammar; oral practice and written expression. You will master basic language structure
for oral and written communication.

You are expected to participate in active listening and speaking French in class and to maintain a notebook
of instructional materials for personal use. The class will explore a variety of cultural themes to promote
cultural awareness of the French-speaking world.

Willingness to speak French and participate actively is essential.

OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS:
This course is of interest to those students who, for one reason or another, have not fulfilled their high
school language requirement. It may also be of interest to students in the upper grades, who wish to begin
the study of a second foreign language.
