Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: Wiki to Waki: Learning the Interactive World Wide Web

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Indian Lake

INSTRUCTOR: George DeChant

Half Year

COURSE PREREQUISITES:


BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE:Students will learn about at least 27 interact modes of communication on the internet.

Examples:

- Wiki
- Twitter
- Blogs
- Mash ups
- Social Bookmarking
- Google Docs
- Syncing home to web to school
- Really Simple Syndication

Students will create a portfolio from their learning experiences while creating and developing their
knowledge of Web 2.0. Weekly homework will include creations of blogs, posting to blogs, following a
list serv.

Students will be required to learn about public domain software and other tools to gather and filter
information.

At the end of the course the students will have a portfolio that includes sound files, image files and videos.
