Distance Learning Course Description



COURSE NAME: American History Through Film

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Cario-Durham

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Brad Chamberlain

HALF YEAR

MAXIMUM TOTAL CLASS ENROLLMENT - ALL SITES: 20

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Recommended to juniors and seniors who have completed U.S. history and
government. Advanced sophomores may be allowed to enroll.

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE:

Using motion picture films to determine what is valid in history. The course will also explore what these films
say about the people who create them and the politics behind their creation. Also, analysis on how these
films reflect the values, ideas, and larger historical issues of the times in which they were created.

OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS:

Quizzes on films will be given routinely. A brief paper analyzing the film will be assigned at the end of each
quarter.
