Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: American Sign Language II

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Catskill

COURSE PREREQUISITES: 1 year of American Sign Language with knowledge of the manual alphabet and
numbers as well as basic understanding of American Sign Language grammar.


BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: The goal of this course is to expand American Sign Language
grammar and vocabulary, expressively. There will be continued practice in performing signs with accuracy
and attention to hand shape, palm direction, movement, location and facial/body movements.

A written essay on a related topic is expected of each student as well as a final presentation in American
Sign Language.
