COURSE NAME: American Sign Language II

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Malone (Franklin Academy)

Maximum Total Class Enrollment - All Sites: 10 per remote site

COURSE PREREQUISITES: American Sign Language I

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: ASL 2 is a continuation of ASL 1. Instruction is a more advanced
study of ASL fundamentals. Students will expand their receptive and expressive fingerspelling, vocabulary,
and grammar skills to a more functional conversational level. They will increase their awareness of Deafness
and Deaf Culture. Students will be given more opportunities for conversation in ASL (without voicing). They
will be expected to demonstrate their sign skills through various expressive projects. Students will also have
more opportunities to use their sign skills with native signers.
