Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: Advance Placement Psychology (SUPA)

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Mayfield

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Open to students in grades 11 and 12 who are willing to accept the challenge
of a rigorous academic curriculum.

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: This course is designed to introduce students to the systematic
and scientific study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and other animals.

Students are exposed to the psychological facts, principles and phenomena associated with each of the major subfields within psychology (including topics such as the biological basis of behavior, perception,
learning, cognition, motivation and emotions, states of consciousness, developmental, social and abnormal
psychology, personality, treatment and research methods).

They also learn about the ethics and methods psychologists use in their science and practice.

OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS: The Advance Placement exam can be taken in May
