Distance Learning Course Description




COURSE NAME: Business Management & Entrepreneurship, Principles of (SCCC)

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Galway

INSTRUCTOR:

HALF YEAR

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Grades 10-12


BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: This course will introduce the diverse world of business, its
structure and its impact on society. The class will cover basic principles of management, types of business
ownership, financial management, human resource management, marketing and sports sponsorships and
endorsements.

This course will also begin to introduce students to concepts of both business law and ethics in our society
and our business system. Recommended for the future business executive or entrepreneur!

OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS:

o Class requires access to computers and internet.

o UHS Credits: 3 (from SCCC). College credits depend on your school location. Our classes are through
Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) but if you are in a county that has a community college you
may need a waiver from that institution. Students can take it without getting the college credit and still get
HS credit.

o Business Management requires a text book - Thomson South Western - Business Principles and Mgt - 11th
Ed - ISBN 0-538-43590-9 - We are using this old text book and if needed we may be able to supplement
materials for this course.
