Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: Creative Writing

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Wells

INSTRUCTOR: Matthew Deibler

HALF YEAR: Spring Semester

COURSE PREREQUISITES: English 9 and 10; CO-REQUISITE: English 11 or 12

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION: Creative Writing begins with "bridge" work from Journalism, such as Found
Poetry, Interview-Based poetry, etc. Poetry continues with the other Modern forms, as well as sonnets,
ballads and odes.

Emphasis is placed on peer-workshopping and shared reading. Students move on to creative non-fiction,
Flash Fiction, One-Act drama and independent choice. Writers design, lay out, edit, publish and distribute the
literary magazine using Microsoft products.
