Distance Learning Course Description

COURSE NAME: SAT Prep (This SAT prep course will cover both English & Math)

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Moriah

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Bilow & Mr. Himelain

HALF YEAR - 10 Weeks

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Re: Math - As most students will take the SAT in 11th grade, they will at least
have taken Math A and passed the Math A regents. Many will be farther along than this.

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE:

Math: This class will cover test taking strategies, guessing strategies and sample math questions from SAT
tests. Students will take the math portion of SAT tests and receive an SAT score on the 200-800 scale.
Most of the class time will be spent studying actual SAT questions.

English: The SAT Prep class will help students become familiar with the SAT English test. Working through
the model test questions, taking sample SAT English tests, and analyzing the answers and explanations will
help students increase their speed, comprehension, and test scores. In addition, in-depth writing instruction
will better prepare students for writing the new SAT essay. Finally, students will learn techniques from Evelyn
Wood's Reading Dynamics, a powerful tool for learning to read faster, comprehend more, and remember
better.
