BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: Sponsored by SUNY Cobleskill,
statistics is equivalent to a first
semester college course in elementary statistics. This course
is designed to be comparable to a typical non-
calculus-based-technology introductory statistics course taught
in a college/university.
The course emphasizes (1) exploring data, (2) planning a study,
(3) anticipating patterns and (4) statistical
inference. The graphing calculator will be the chief tool for
data analysis. Statisics- including data types,
standard deviation, z-scores, t-scores, distribution frequencies,
sampling error, survey/polling projects,
nonparametric statistics, and related topics. The TI graphing
calculator will be used throughout the course.
There is no Regents exam for this course, but a local final exam
will be given.
