Distance Learning Course Description



COURSE NAME: AP English 12 - English Literature and Composition

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Duanesburg

INSTRUCTOR: Rebecca Meyer

Full Year Credit: 1 Unit

Maximum Enrollment: 12 @ one receive site; 6 each @ two receive sites

COURSE PREREQUISITES: English 11 & English Regents. Average of 90% or better the first three quarters in
English, and an overall end of the year GPA of 85%


BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE:

This course involves intensive reading, writing, and literary analysis appropriate to college level work. The
course work will also develop college level writing skills. Readings are of recognized literary merit, including
both fiction and non-fiction works.

Students will read one work of literay merit in addition to class work and write an essay upon reading each
quarter.

Students taking the course must take the mandated AP exam. The exam fee is $89. The College Board has audited and approved this course.


OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS: A summer reading assignment is required.
