Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: Bio-Ethics

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Corinth

INSTRUCTOR:

Half Year

COURSE PREREQUISITES: For 11th and 12th graders who have successfully (with a final grade of 80+)
completed Living Environment and Earth Science.


BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: The course is intended for juniors and seniors as a general
introduction to bioethics and the current debates in the fields of science. A survey of issues will be critically
examined from several perspectives.

Topics will include but are not limited to: ethical issues in the areas of cloning, stem cell research, human
reproduction, death and dying, and the ethics of research and experimentation.

Periodically, students will be required to submit written responses to articles as well as create their own
research/response papers on topics pertinent to the course. Presentations and debates will be a large
portion of this class as well.

OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS: Students will also be required to purchase a soft covered novel for less
than ten dollars.
