Distance Learning Course Description




COURSE NAME: Italian I

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Scotia-Glenville

INSTRUCTOR: TBD

FULL YEAR

MAXIMUM TOTAL CLASS ENROLLMENT - ALL SITES: no more than 12 students at the receive site if one site
receives class; no more than 6 students at each receive site if two sites receive class.

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Class is open to seniors first and underclassmen as space permits.


BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: The purpose of this course is to develop basic communication
skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing Italian, and to give students an introduction to the long,
rich culture of Italy. Students will engage in small and whole group work to build vocabulary and
conversational skills.

They will use a variety of media such as music, videos, magazines, newspapers, games and Internet sources,
along with text materials. Class participation is a must - oral communication in Italian is essential to learning
the language! This is a one-credit course that meets every day for the whole school year.
