COURSE PREREQUISITES:

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: In this class we study and write diverse forms of poetry: students
read and write poems daily.

Goals for this class are: to experience the power of poetry and language; to explore a wide variety of poetry
by a diverse range of poets; to learn the conventions of poetry and clarify how poetry works; and to
practice writing and revising original poems.

Students are expected to create a portfolio of their own poems, as well as participate in a poetry reading.
