COURSE PREREQUISITES: Students for this course will
need a notebook and must sign the "Two way
Interactive Television Classes Student Agreement Form".
BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: This course will be the second
part of two half-year sessions, with
World War I as the first part of the course. The World War II course
will cover the underlying causes,
conflicts, short term, and long term events will be studied thoroughly.
The causes, action, and results of this
greater and more deadly war will be covered in further detail. Within
thirty years after the First World War,
another global conflict will emerge eventually killing over sixty
million people.
The failure of Germany's first experiment with democracy and the rise
of fascism in Europe will be identified
as both a result of the First World War and a cause of the Second
World War. The study of Japanese
imperialism and rapid industrialization will be an essential aspect
in covering the war in Asia and the Pacific.
Grades will be determined based using the following
percentages each quarter:
H.W./ Participation- 20% (one assignment per unit and student will
need access to the internet/ to be determined by the instructor)
Quizzes- 30% (one quiz per unit)
Tests- 50% (one test covers Unit 1 and Unit 2, Unit 3 and 4, Unit
5 and Unit 6) 100%
OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS: The instructor will
provide various readings and presentations (video
clips/movies and websites) during the course.
