Capital Region BOCES Project Notes

  Fourteen sites are equipped to participate in the CRB DL project:

  • Albany Career And Technical Ctr.
  • Berne-Knox-Westerlo
  • Cobleskill-Richmondville
  • Cohoes
  • Duanesburg
  • Hudson Valley Community Colege
  • Middleburgh
  • Mohonasen
  • Schenectady
  • Schoharie Career and Technical Ctr.
  • Schoharie Central HS
  • Scotia Glenville
  • Sharon Springs
  • Voorheesville

2002 - 2003 School Year:

  • 37 semester and full-year courses in 49 sections are being taught over the system during the 2002 - 2003 school year.
  • Over 450 students are enrolled in the distance learning program, with many students scheduled to take multiple distance learning courses.
 
  • 37 instructors are teaching over the system this year, with one instructor scheduled to teach four periods a day via the network.
  • Ten (10) sites are using their distance learning classroom at least six periods each day. Each school on the system will be offering on average eight semester and full-year courses in its distance learning room this year.
  • Over 180 students from grades 8-12 participated in two different summer school programs via distance learning this summer. Courses ran from 8:00 in the morning to 6:00 at night.
  • Graduate courses from the College of St. Rose are being offered for staff after school again this year and additional staff development programs are planned as well.
  • A number of continuing education courses are being taught in the evenings this year and plans are to hold these and other community programs in the future.

System Development:

  • The Capital Region system is currently connected, through system integration and regional interconnects, to 17 other Distance Learning sites in the HFM and WSWHE BOCES regions.
  • Over 450 students are enrolled in the distance learning program, with many students scheduled to take multiple distance learning courses.
