COURSE NAME: Agriculture, Introduction to

SCHOOL DISTRICT: St Johnsville

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Michael Settle

HALF YEAR

COURSE PREREQUISITES:

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE:This class presents an overview of agriculture and how it fits
into today's world. The topics of international trade, comparative advantage, and economics are used
to place US agriculture in perspective.

The history of agriculture, both worldwide and locally is studied. Introductions are made to plant and
animal production agriculture. Conservation and the role of sustainable agriculture to provide for future
agricultural systems is the final area studied in this class.

OTHER NOTES/MISCELLANEOUS: Open to students in grades 9-12.
