Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: AP Statistics

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Granville

INSTRUCTOR: Patricia Gordon

FULL YEAR

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Overall average greater than 80% and Math A Regents exam grade of
at least 65%.

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: This course covers the following topics:
  • exploring data
  • sampling and experimentation (planning and conducting a study)
  • anticipating patterns (exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation)
  • statistical inference (estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses).
Students will also learn how to use computer software to generate multiple regression equations. The students will be responsible to conduct an experiment and do a PowerPoint presentation showing their hypothesis as true or false based on data obtained. Students will use the graphing calculator on a daily basis.

OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS:

If students register for this class, they are required to take the AP
Statistics exam that is given in May. The cost of the exam for May 2006 is $82.

Students are required to have a TI 83 or 84 graphing calculator.
