COURSE NAME: Career Connections

COURSE PREREQUISITES: 6-8 grade students may enroll as a supplement to either Home & Careers or a
Technology Careers program only.

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: The "Career Connections" curriculum is a full year career discovery
curriculum focusing on the 6 CDOS Career clusters. Students will explore occupational choices through
interactive activities, which facilitate self-examination and discovery of one's talents skills and abilities.
The culminating activity, a letterboxing hunt, will be hosted at a local nature preserve.

OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS: This is a "Drop In Curriculum" and may be customized to meet your
scheduling need. Students design and construct their own letterboxes based on career inventory responses.

• Virtual tours of the various Career Center programs.
• Career Clusters Bingo -- Students match various careers with associated Career clusters.
• Monthly newsletters -- Teachers receive monthly "Career Connections" newsletters to send or mail to
  parents.
• Features include, Home and Careers "students in action", hot job trends and more.
• Letterboxing construction and treasure hunt -- the interactive piece throughout the program that helps
  student to discover their aptitude, talents, skills, and occupational interests.
• Career profile: Students will complete a occupational aptitude profile to retain in their career development folder at school.
