COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE:
This "hands-on" course is
designed to assist students
in
developing a greater understanding
of children and their development.
Students study the development
of a child from conception
to the age of 12. Factors
that influence development,
what to expect at each
stage of development, fun
things to do with children,
discipline, parenting styles,
and day care issues are
among the topics covered in
this course. Video presentations,
guest speakers, field trips,
and group work
are integral parts of this
course. This course is ideal
for the student interested
in pursuing a career in
education, nursing, counseling,
social work, or human services.
