Distance Learning Course Description


COURSE NAME: Exploring Shakespeare's Work

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Fort Plain

INSTRUCTOR: Mary McCall

Half Year

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Junior or Senior with strong interest in and affinity for Shakespeare's works.


BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION/OUTLINE: A brief sampling of Shakespeare's plays (including at least one
tragedy, one comedy, and one history) and poetry, along with a look into the Bard's background/life.

Work would be primarily read and/or watched, with the emphasis on analysis, enjoyment, and insight, rather
than acting.

Several movie versions of Shakespeare's works are included in the course, and each student will lead a
culminating project (of one class period) based upon some aspect of Shakespeare and/or his work that
interests the student (must be pre-approved by teacher of course).
