COURSE NAME: Introduction to Occupations I

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Cohoes

COURSE PREREQUISITES: none

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: This is a required course for all students who plan to pursue a
major sequence in Occupational Education. It is recommended that this course be taken in grade 9, but
may be taken in grade 10, 11, 12. This course consists of two state required modules in Working Citizen
and Personal Resource Management. Working Citizen is designed to introduce students to the realities of
the working world. Each module seeks to develop a series of progressive skills and behaviors that help
the individual integrate his/her role within the work place and home. Personal Resource Management is
organized into three topics designed to help the student development and apply concepts in effective
management of time, and person, human, and financial resources. A State Proficiency Exam is required.
