COURSE NAME: University in the High School (UHS) Shakespeare

SCHOOL DISTRICT: Galway High School

INSTRUCTOR: Melanie McDonald

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Honors English or "A" average in English 11 with teacher recommendation

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION / OUTLINE: Shakespeare is a college level full year course that will provide an
introduction to Shakespearean genres: sonnets, comedy, tragedy, history and romance. The full-year
curriculum parallels the semester-long SUNY Albany course Reading Shakespeare 144L. Special attention is
given to developing skills that are expected at the college level. By enrolling in the SUNY Albany University in
the High School program students may earn college credits.

OTHER NOTES / MISCELLANEOUS: Enrollment in the SUNY UHS program is required to participate in this
course. Also, this course utilizes Blackboard; internet access from home or school is strongly recommended.
