WSWHE BOCES - Saratoga Adirondack Network - Project Notes

  Ten sites are currently participating in the WSWHE (SAN) DL project:

  • Fort Edward Union Free School
  • Galway Central School
  • Glens Falls High School
  • Keene Central School
  • Myers Education Center
  • Newcomb Central School
  • Schuylerville Jr./Sr. High School
  • South Glens Falls Sr. High School
  • Warrensburg Jr./Sr. High School
  • Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School

2002 - 2003 School Year:

  • 14 semester and full-year courses are being either hosted or received by 31 classes over the system during the 2002 - 2003 school year.
  
Other distance learning programming has included:
  • Meetings between area schools and communities
  • Staff development workshops between districts
System Development:
  • The Saratoga-Adirondack Network is also connected to 21 other sites on the Capital Region and HFM BOCES Distance Learning Networks. Three courses are being shared this year between SAN schools and schools on the Capital Region BOCES network.
  • Fort Edward and Schuylerville became operational this year.
  • A videoconferencing gateway installed at the Myers Educational Center is being used extensively. The gateway allows Distance Learning Classrooms to connect over the Internet to any site that has videoconferencing equipment. The system is making fully interactive class field trips to locations around the world a virtual reality. Classes on the network have had presentations from and discussions with experts thousands of miles away.
  • As the ATM technology conversion nears completion, more districts are utilizing the network for Internet access, data services and library automation.
