The Albany Institute's Virtual Field Trips are exciting real-time interactive programs. Museum educators use objects, images and inquiry-based teaching methods to engage students in lessons that focus on American history and art as well as the art and culture of ancient Egypt. Students are active participants in the lesson; they observe, analyze and express their ideas about objects and images presented.

The Albany Institute’s videoconferencing is intended for individual classes or group of 30 students or fewer. In addition to a main camera, a special “document camera” allows for close inspection of individual objects. Each lesson is approximately 60 minutes. Each lesson was co-written with K-12 teachers , and corresponds with New York State and National Standards.

Distance Learning at The Cleveland Museum of Art allows classes to connect with the CMA and enrich their studies of history, language arts, science, math and the visual arts through our collection of art and artifacts from around the world.

Through live, interactive videoconferencing, students participate in conversations with museum educators that are two-way and fully interactive. Programs are designed for grades K-12 and are aligned with ODE academic standards. Learning packets with extension activities are supplied with most lessons.

The distance learning initiative of the Philadelphia Museum of Art uses ISDN and IP-based videoconferencing to enable virtual tours of the Museum’s collections. This allows real-time interactions with the Museum’s expert staff, so students and teachers can explore the fascinating world of art without ever leaving the classroom.

All lessons are adaptable for grades K through 12 and can be tailored to meet your students’ needs. Lessons can either provide a general introduction to art and artists from diverse areas of the collection, or feature more specific periods and concepts in art history.

Every videoconference is unique, designed by Globe Education in consultation with you to provide a learning experience that supports your particular scheme of work. TWICE (The Michigan Two Way Interactive Network) annually organizes a special celebration of the national NEA event “Read Across America” by providing the opportunity for schools in the continental United States to connect using two-way interactive video to both read to and be read to by another class.

The purpose of this celebration is to have students reading to students. What they read is your choice i.e., a Dr. Seuss book (this event is in honor of his birthday), a book about your community, a poem or an original story your class wrote. Just pick something you and your students love!

This project involves matching classrooms with other schools in the nation. We hope to match schools with schools outside their state, which may mean long distance fees for ISDN connections. Connectivity fees are the only cost to this project and individual schools are responsible for the long distance charges.

The Museum of Television & Radio offers classes via videoconferencing from both its New York and Los Angeles locations. The classes, developed and conducted by the Museum's education staff, include clips from the collection to provide information, stimulate conversation, and encourage media literacy. SERC's distance learning programs, all supported by teacher-developed curriculum, bring Smithsonian science into classrooms and homes across the country. By participating in videoconferences or Electronic Field Trips, you have the opportunity to talk with expert scientists and educators at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and possibly venture into places where on-site visitors seldom are permitted to go.

Go behind the scenes of science with SERC's interactive videoconferences on topics related to SERC research. Each informative videoconference lasts between thirty and sixty minutes, during which time students will participate in hands-on science demonstrations and interact with SERC staff.

Each videoconference comes with curriculum aligned with Maryland Science Content Standards to use in the classroom before, during, and after the videoconference. SERC is currently offering videoconferences on a wide variety of topics.

SERC
Electronic Field Trips (EFTs) are content-driven programs designed to offer students in K-12 classrooms learning opportunities they would not otherwise experience.

During these live, interactive, satellite broadcasts, students interact with scientists through live demonstrations, phone calls, and e-mail. This interactivity, along with teacher-developed curriculum, makes EFTs a highly effective educational tool.

Initiated through an award from the National Institutes of Health, the CSO offers a virtual two-way videoconference connection between Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center research scientists, physicians, graduate and medical students and classrooms locally, statewide, nationally and internationally. The mission of the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County is to teach the Holocaust, a unique catastrophe that reflects the horrors of anti-Semitism, and to demonstrate the destructive nature of prejudice, hatred, apathy, and violence against all minorities. We seek to promote an awareness and understanding of the tragic lessons of the Holocaust; to engender a commitment to actively resist discrimination and intolerance; and to nurture respect for the uniqueness of every human being in order to better enable people to live together in peace and harmony.

The Center is a member of EEZ (Educational Enterprise Zone). Through this membership we are able to provide Videoconferencing programs. These programs are interactive. In each the Holocaust survivor gives part of their testimony with the remainder of the testimony gotten through questions asked by the students. Suggested questions are provided to the teachers but students are encouraged to develop their own questions.

The Center offers three programs. Each one is one-hour in length. We can customize the programs.

The Virtual Outreach Program at the Michigan State University Museum offers exciting virtual field trips for your students. These programs allow teachers to provide fun and meaningful learning experiences without the expense, permission forms, and geographic limitations of ordinary field trips.

MSU Museum's field trips are conducted by professionals recognized in their disciplines and experienced in presenting content to students with a range of educational needs. Most programs last 45-60 minutes followed by time for questions.
